If they decided (and were allowed) to sample each thematic section instead of taking three samples from one and the same section (Herbal), that would have been a better choice, in my opinion.

The sampling took into account that some pages look physically different from each other (thick vs thin) and that there were (then) two distinctly different handwriting styles. Samples were taken from both sets in both cases.

In the end it turns out that three of Lisa's five hands were represented in the samples.

Folio 8 was included for the single reason that its other half (folio 1) has the ex libris of Jacobus de Tepenec, one of only two datable items in the MS. Should the parchment have a date after his lifetime, the MS would have immediately been 'diagnosed' as a much later (=modern) fake.
