I guess their output depends on their sources plus the user's input. As a test, I just asked ChatGPT if we could come up with a tentative solution and to give me some options. It lists the following encoding methods:
1. Constructed Language with Cipher
- Method: Substitution cipher applied to a made-up language with its own grammar and vocabulary.
- Structure: Each glyph represents a letter or syllable from the constructed language.
- Extra Layer: Null characters and ligatures inserted to obscure patterns.
2. Mnemonic Manual
- Method: Not truly encoded—symbols stand for abstract concepts or categories, not language.
- Structure: Glyphs serve as visual cues or ideograms to trigger memory, possibly part of a personal symbolic system.
- Interpretation: Reading requires knowing the user’s internal mapping of symbol to concept.
3. Glossolalia or Ritual Writing
- Method: No true encoding—glyphs are invented and used with internal consistency, but don’t map to known meanings.
- Structure: Pseudo-language with fluid rules mimicking natural language, possibly produced in altered states.
- Encoding “Purpose”: Expression rather than communication; form over content.
4. Encoded Polyglot
- Method: Homophonic cipher mapping sounds (not letters) from multiple languages to single glyphs.
- Structure: Glyphs represent phonemes or syllable sounds; words could pull from Latin, Arabic, German, etc.
- Complexity: One glyph might correspond to different sounds in different languages depending on context.
5. Secret Women’s Knowledge
- Method: Simple cipher (e.g., monoalphabetic or syllabic) over a vernacular dialect or oral language.
- Structure: Each glyph or glyph cluster maps to a syllable or word in a known but hidden language.
- Goal: Keep knowledge esoteric, especially from clergy or male authorities.
So it can really go many ways depending on the user's interest. It will happily suggest a whole range of ciphers, and cooperate if you come up with something yourself.
