I found another "poxleber"

We have to separate two things here:

On the one hand, the general practice. We know from Ebendorfer that people were pox-swearing around the mid-15th century. We know from cookbooks that people were cooking with bucks-"leber" from at least the 15th century. On the other hand, a completely different question is that of attestations. 

1a. When do we see people actually writing "pox leber" or "poxleber" as a minced oath? This does not necessarily overlap with the general practice of pox-swearing.
1b. Which spelling variations do we count as equivalent?
2a. When do we see people actually writing "pox leber" or "poxleber" for an ingredient or meat cut? This does not necessarily overlap with the practice of cooking with goat liver.
2b. Which spelling variations do we count as equivalent?

Folz does not use (as far as I know) "pox leber". This may be why I had trouble finding him again. He provides an early attestation for general pox-swearing, but Ebendorfer is much earlier still. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.

* 1503, Kitzbühel (meat)
* 1525, Motschiedler, Nürnberg (minced oath)
* 1552, Sachs, Nürnberg (minced oath)
