Much appreciated! But to my disappointment, Allmand says little about the illustrations. The manuscripts you linked also have little more than a few ornamental illuminations. Nothing akin to the machines of Kyeser & co. Which so far confirms my suspicion. Vegetius imagery post-dates Kyeser and Taccola. They might have been inspired by the text, but not the images.
