PCA = Principle Component Analysis, PCA 3 = the third largest principle component.

Explaining how PCA works is frankly beyond what I am willing to do in a single post here, if you just google PCA Image analysis you will find many resources explaining it. 

I do appreciate this thread, and I genuinely hope what you are posting is correct, but this is the reason that heavily AI-assisted analysis and responses are supposed to be against the rules here. I'm not really talking to anybody, and you are just giving me arxiv links to general broad concepts and stating that's how you did it. You're acting as if a link to mathworks or an arxiv paper would somehow set me up to do what you have done. 

But I simply don't have the ability, experience or knowledge to keep up with or check what you are posting due to the sheer scale of information. It is being explained as if it is some simple process that anyone can do, but it's clearly not. Maybe someone smarter than me can work it out and reproduce it. 

That explains why this image does not resemble an untouched 870 nm scan.

   
   

So is this an untouched 870nm scan, or a touched 870nm scan? My version of that specific scan looks nothing like this.
