Hello everyone,
On 31 October 2026, while doing my research, I came across two early printed books whose ownership inscriptions and the numbers 14 and 33 may point to Jakub Horčický z Tepence. On 2 November, I first contacted René Zandbergen and asked him to examine the inscriptions.
René reads the name as “Tepenecz” without any doubt. Rafał Prinke, whom I also showed the image excerpts, shares René’s assessment. Despite their agreement, the attribution of the two books still needs closer examination. I would like to present this here as a possible find and invite discussion while the attribution is still provisional.
Before sharing the images and further details here, I am still clarifying the terms of use for the images. In the meantime, I wanted to share this brief announcement.
If the attribution is confirmed, these two books could bring the number of known volumes from Horčický’s library from five to seven. That would be a welcome addition for further research.
I look forward to sharing the material here and hearing what you think once I am able to do so.
Best regards,
Dirk Henke
